The IT market in India has attracted plenty of workers and new graduates but it appears that the number of fully qualified and experienced IT help is not
keeping up with the demand. The lower numbers are pushing salaries up, as well, which puts a dent in cost-savings opportunities for outsourcing. Companies are compensating by starting their own training centers, bringing Indian expats back from the West, applying retention best practices, and aggressively recruiting from competitors. The war for talent means that Indian employers need to focus on motivating talent, as well as attracting it, says one expert.
