Mini Shoppers Will Do It Themselves to Save More Time
Response Source: According to NCR research, 66 percent of British shoppers want a self-service option at the checkout; 42 percent of them are likely or very likely to consider the presence of self-service � or lack thereof � when deciding where to shop. This is becoming more important as people make more frequent, shorter trips to stores, another trend highlighted in the survey. An NCR executive quoted here says shoppers accustomed to online shopping are seeking similar convenience and spontaneity in their brick-and-mortar experiences. Other survey highlights: Some 56 percent want to use self-service to pre-order items, such as deli items, and collect them later. Fifty-eight percent of respondents want to be able to order items that are out of stock. Yes, NCR manufactures self-checkout systems. The stats are still interesting.
